17th Baba Behram Khan Dagar
Dhrupad Samaroh, Jaipur
 In
1972, the centenary year of the dhrupadiya Behram Khan who adorned the
courts of Bahadur Shah Zafar and Ranjit Singh, his great grand
children, the Dagar brothers organized the first Dhrupad Samaroh,
(festival) in Jaipur. Ten years later, the samaroh also took root in
Delhi.
The 17th Dhrupad Samaorh was held in Jaipur from 8th to 10th October
2004 at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur. Along with dhrupad exponents from
the Dagar family, several leading vocalists including Pt. Abhay Narayan
Mallick, Shri Uday Bahawalkar, and instrumentalists Ustad Asad Ali
Khan, Smt. Radhika Bhudhkar, and Pt. Ramesh Prem, accompanied by
leading pakhawaj players Pt Laxmi Narayan Pawar, Pt Dal Chand Sharma,
Shri Mohan Shyam Sharma, and Shri Praveen Arya enthalled the Jaipur
audience.
